King Mohammed VI Launches 120-Bed Psychiatric Hospital Project in Agadir

King Mohammed VI proceeded to launch the construction work of the psychiatric hospital in Agadir. This project is part of the implementation of the urban development program of the city (2020-2024), launched on Tuesday by the Sovereign.
With a capacity of 120 beds, the future hospital will be built on a 25,097 m² site for investments of around 55 million DH. This project aims to strengthen the psychiatric offer, medical and paramedical training, and improve the care of patients with mental disorders. This hospital is in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Health and plans the creation of regional specialized psychiatric hospitals in Agadir (project subject of the launch), Kenitra and El Kelaâ des Sraghna.
The future hospital will also include a day hospital, psychiatry, child psychiatry, geriatrics services, a forensic medicine unit and an addictology unit, an outpatient consultation center, a hospitalization center (men/women/children) and an emergency service.
In total, this project will also strengthen the psychiatric care offer, which currently includes three psychiatry departments at the provincial hospital centers of Inezgane, Taroudante and Tiznit, and an addictology center in Agadir.
Furthermore, medical infrastructure will now be strengthened, particularly through the construction project of the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Agadir, to which the future psychiatric hospital of Agadir will be attached.
