Morocco’s Prime Minister Akhannouch Divests from Family Business to Avoid Conflicts

After his appointment as head of government, Aziz Akhannouch is renouncing all his responsibilities within the various private companies affiliated with the family holding company, in order to avoid any conflict of interest.
When he was a minister in the El Othmani government, Aziz Akhannouch had already suspended all professional or commercial activity. Today, in the role of a head of government, he has decided to withdraw completely from all activities, even those exclusively related to the acquisition of capital contributions and the management of securities. Yet the law gives him some leeway and allows him, while being head of government, to devote himself to his private activities, reports the MAP.
The new head of the executive intends, it is said, to devote himself exclusively to this in order to remain in the logic of the promises made during the election campaign.
