Morocco's El Othmani Vacates Prime Minister's Office for Incoming Akhannouch

The outgoing head of government, Saâdeddine El Othmani, is about to leave the Prime Minister’s Office where Aziz Akhannouch, appointed head of the executive by King Mohammed VI after the resounding victory of his party, the Rally of Independents (RNI), in the last legislative elections, will work and reside.

El Othmani will leave his official residence located on Princesses Avenue in the Soussi district of Rabat to move back to Salé, reports Al Akhbar. Fearing the failure of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) in the legislative elections, the outgoing head of government had started, as early as June, the renovation of his villa in the Essalam district. No more cabinet members and employees (cooks, drivers and gardeners) at the Prime Minister’s Office. They have completed their mission.

El Othmani will receive a severance allowance. He will receive a check for 700,000 DH, each outgoing minister 600,000 DH, and each Secretary of State 500,000 DH, reported Assabah. This allowance exceeds 10 times the global lump sum salary of each beneficiary. In addition to the severance allowance, the members of the outgoing government will be entitled, for life, to a retirement pension: 48,000 DH for the former head of the executive, 39,000 DH for the ministers and 30,000 DH for the Secretaries of State. In the event that one of the beneficiaries dies, half of this pension will automatically be paid to the heirs.
