Morocco Prepares to Ease Lockdown Measures as Government Weighs Next Steps

The Moroccan government maintains the suspense 24 hours before the deadline for the lifting of the state of health emergency, renewed twice since its announcement last March. While its extension beyond June 10 is becoming more likely, the same cannot be said for the confinement of the population.
According to government sources cited by Akhbarona, the executive must meet to decide on the post-confinement phase and the necessary measures to ensure a smooth transition.
New barrier measures, in preparation for the deconfinement phase, will be adopted during this meeting, the media points out, adding that their characteristics and their effective dates will be determined in consultation with the various ministerial departments concerned.
To this end, the government will have to rely on detailed reports from the Ministers of Health, Interior and Economy and Finance to announce to the public the new provisions to be implemented from this Wednesday, June 10.
