Morocco to Begin Gradual Easing of COVID-19 Lockdown on June 11

The lifting of lockdown measures will be gradual in Morocco on June 11. To succeed in this deconfinement, the government will require strict compliance with barrier gestures.

The Executive is moving towards a relaxation of restrictive confinement measures, in view of recent statements by some government members and ministerial circulars on the state of health emergency, reports Panorapost.

A few days ago, the Head of Government had also announced that industrial factories that are not subject to an official ban could resume their activities after the end of Eid Al-Fitr. According to the Head of Government, the most important requirement is compliance with applicable health regulations.

Following this announcement, several sectors had promised to set up a recovery plan, once the confinement measures were lifted. The first to open the ball is the Supreme Judicial Council, which met in Rabat. It announced the gradual resumption in three phases of the activities of the courts, starting June 11. The first phase will take place from June 11 to June 30, under the same confinement rules, with a few exceptions. The second stage is scheduled for the period from July 1 to July 31, 2020. The last phase coincides with the resumption of normal judicial activity on September 1, scheduled to take place in strict compliance with the barrier gestures against covid-19.

As for the reopening plan for cafes and restaurants, it will also be done gradually. According to the health protocol, customers will not be able to sit down. Cafes and restaurants will now only be able to offer delivery services or takeout or takeaway offers while respecting the criteria of physical distancing and other measures that will be communicated to them by the authorities.
