Morocco Eases Lockdown, PM Warns Preventive Measures Must Continue

The Head of Government, Saâdeddine El Otmani hammered home on Wednesday that the easing of the health lockdown from June 11 will not in any way lead to the lifting of the necessary preventive measures, "some of which could be maintained for months".
"We are called upon to be vigilant, and we are counting on citizens to respect the preventive measures," said the Head of Government during the monthly session of general policy questions in the House of Representatives.
According to El Othmani, the measures taken as part of the extension of the state of health emergency constitute the first stage of the easing of confinement with a view to its subsequent lifting. "These temporary measures are part of the first stage of the easing of the health lockdown, pending a weekly assessment of the impacts and results of deconfinement," he explained.
Following such an assessment, continued the Head of Government, we will have a vision for the next phase for Zones I and II as well as on the authorization of additional activities, including possibly the gradual resumption of domestic tourism and gatherings under conditions.
"It is planned to move to the second stage with the resumption of more activities and further easing of confinement measures," added the Head of Government.
