Morocco Overtakes Spain as UK’s Second-Largest Tomato Supplier

In 2021, Morocco surpassed Spain and became the second largest supplier of tomatoes to the United Kingdom. A first.
With 110.85 million kilos sold in 2021 compared to 67.82 in 2019, Morocco has overtaken Spain (68.43 million kilos) and has become the second largest supplier of tomatoes to the United Kingdom, according to COMTRADE data, the Statistics Division of the United Nations (UN) relayed by Hortoinfo. In 2019, Spanish exports amounted to 120.21 million kilos of tomatoes.
As for Dutch tomato imports, they went from 163.24 million kilos in 2019 to 127.27 million kilos last year, a decrease of 22.03%. The Netherlands, Morocco and Spain alone supply 91.36% of the tomatoes imported by the United Kingdom.
