Morocco Overtakes Spain as UK’s Second-Largest Tomato Supplier

In 2021, the United Kingdom imported 333,739 tons of tomatoes worth 524 million euros. With more than 110,000 tons, Morocco has become the second largest supplier to the country.
This is the first time that Morocco has reached this position on the British market, according to data from Comtrade, the United Nations Statistics Division (UN).
In total, Morocco exported about 110,846 tons of tomatoes to the United Kingdom in 2021 against 83,148 tons a year earlier. For their part, Spanish tomato sales have fallen, totaling a volume of 68,102 tons in 2021 against 91,673 tons in 2020.
For the record, the first place among suppliers on the British market is held by the Netherlands with an export volume of 126,797 tons.
