Morocco’s Northern Region Boosts Hotel Capacity Ahead of Major Soccer Tournaments

The Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, particularly the city of Tangier, is preparing to welcome the numerous supporters who will visit Morocco during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup.
At the end of April, the Regional Investment Committee of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region approved the construction of 31 tourism projects. Among other things, the construction of 3 five-star hotels is planned, including two in Tangier and one in Chefchaouen, for a total amount of about two billion dirhams.
In Tangier, these two future 5-star hotels will be located in the Al Manar area, not far from the sea, according to sources, adding that these strategic projects aim to meet the high demand in this northern city, a very popular destination for both Moroccan and foreign tourists.
The other tourism projects involve the creation of residences and units as well as 4-star hotels. They aim to strengthen the region’s and the city’s accommodation capacity with 2,800 additional beds in provinces such as Tangier, Tetouan, and Chefchaouen, in preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco and the 2030 World Cup.
According to the same sources, these large-scale tourism projects are part of the economic momentum driven by the authorities to attract more investments in the region, particularly in sectors such as automotive, textile, agri-food, and renewable energies.
