Morocco Mourns: Parents of 5-Year-Old Rayan Thank Rescuers After Well Tragedy

Rayan’s parents, the 5-year-old boy who accidentally fell into a dry well in Chefchaouen, near his home, expressed their gratitude to King Mohammed VI, as well as to all the rescue teams.
Khalid Ouram and Ouassima Kharchich, Rayan’s parents, through a moving video, expressed their recognition and gratitude to King Mohammed VI for the special attention he paid to the rescue operation of their son, who remained trapped in a dried-up well, in the village of Tamorot since Tuesday and who could not come out unharmed. They also expressed their gratitude to the authorities and the rescue teams for their relentless efforts to save the little boy.
Since Saturday evening, Morocco has been in mourning. The 5-year-old child, who accidentally fell on February 1 into a 32-meter deep, narrow and difficult to access dried-up well, dug near the family residence in the village of Ighrane, in the province of Chefchaouen, in northern Morocco, is deceased.
