Loyal Dog Keeps Vigil at Grave of Moroccan Boy Trapped in Well

A few days after the burial of Rayan, the 5-year-old boy who remained trapped in a 45 cm diameter dry well near the family residence in the village of Ighrane for 5 days after an accidental fall, his dog refuses to leave his grave.
A lesson in loyalty in Ighrane. The black dog that participated in the funeral of Rayan, the 5-year-old child, who accidentally fell on February 1, 2022 into a 32-meter deep, narrow and difficult to access dry well, dug near the family residence in the village of Ighrane, in the province of Chefchaouen, in northern Morocco, refuses to leave the boy’s grave. He has remained stationed on the boy’s grave as if guarding him.
Rayan remained trapped in a 45 cm diameter dry well for 5 days after an accidental fall. The rescuers managed to get him out last Saturday. Unfortunately, the boy passed away. The tragedy has moved Morocco and even many countries that have expressed their solidarity with the child’s family and the Moroccan people.
On Monday, little Rayan was buried in a cemetery near Ighrane, his native village, after the funeral prayer, in the presence of the boy’s family members and several hundred people.
