Morocco Mourns 5-Year-Old Rayan as Village Prepares for Funeral After Well Tragedy

The funeral of Rayan, the 5-year-old boy, who remained trapped in a 45 cm diameter dry well for 5 days after an accidental fall, will take place this Monday, February 7 in his village, located in northern Morocco.
This Monday, Rayan’s funeral will take place in his village. Accidentally fallen on February 1, 2022 into a 32-meter deep, narrow and difficult to access dry well, dug near the family residence in the village of Ighrane, in the province of Chefchaouen, in northern Morocco, little Rayan did not survive, despite the five days of relentless efforts by the rescuers. The tragedy has moved the whole world. Tributes have multiplied after the death of the little boy.
"We want to thank all the people who helped us, the authorities and everyone," saluted Khalid Aourram, Rayan’s father, to BFMTV. The latter and his wife Ouassima Kharchich, Rayan’s parents, have, through a moving video, expressed their gratitude and gratitude to King Mohammed VI for the special attention he paid to the rescue operation of their son trapped in a dry well, in the village of Tamorot since Tuesday and who could not come out unharmed.
