Morocco: Minimum wage increases, here are the new amounts for 2026
It is now official by decree. The Moroccan government has formalized the revaluation of the guaranteed minimum wage (SMIG) and the guaranteed agricultural minimum wage (SMAG). These new amounts will come into effect at the beginning of 2026.
The decision, endorsed during the Council of Government meeting on December 18 last year after consultation with trade unions and employers, has just been published in the latest Official Bulletin. Decree No. 2.25.983 thus sets the new legal minimum wage scales in the Kingdom.
For private sector employees (industry, commerce and services), the minimum hourly wage (SMIG) rises to 17.92 dirhams. This increase is applicable immediately, as of January 1, 2026.
The rural world is also affected, but with a deferred schedule. For agricultural workers, the minimum daily wage (SMAG) is set at 97.44 dirhams. This revaluation will come into effect a little later, on April 1, 2026.
This text, signed by the Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, repeals the previous decree of January 2025.
