Morocco: the price of butane gas will not change in 2025

This decision marks a pause in the initial decompensation schedule. The government had planned a gradual increase of 10 dirhams per year over three years, having already increased the price of the 12 kg bottle from 40 to 50 dirhams in 2024. Faced with the economic situation and the rise in the cost of living, the second tranche of the increase planned for 2025 is cancelled. The price of the large bottle will therefore remain set at 50 dirhams and that of the small 3 kg bottle at 12.5 dirhams.

Revaluation of aid for children and orphans

In parallel with this tariff maintenance, Aziz Akhannouch confirmed the entry into force of the first increase in direct social assistance at the end of the month. The allocated amounts will increase to 250 dirhams for each of the first three school-age or under-six children, and to 175 dirhams for non-school-age children. For paternal orphans, the aid is set at 375 dirhams. The Head of Government has guaranteed that the minimum amount received by each family will not be less than 500 dirhams, regardless of its composition.

This program currently benefits more than four million families, or more than twelve million people. Aziz Akhannouch presented these measures as the result of a structural process aimed at consolidating the social state, in accordance with the royal will to preserve the dignity of citizens.
