Morocco Makes World Handball Championship Debut Against Algeria in Egypt

For its baptism of fire at the World Handball Championship taking place in Egypt, Morocco faces Algeria. The Moroccan national team aims to take a comfortable place during this World Cup.
The competitions of the 27th edition of the World Handball Championship started this Wednesday in Egypt, and the Moroccan national team hopes to improve its level in the ranking. For its seventh participation, Morocco is in group F with Portugal, Algeria and Iceland. The Moroccans hope that Egypt will bring them luck as in 1999, during the World Championship by propelling themselves to the 17th position, according to the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
After its first match against Algeria, Morocco will face Portugal on the 16th and 18th, Iceland. According to the president of the FRMHB, Adli El Hanafi, the national team has prepared well and the players are motivated to achieve very good performances. The handball players carried out a two-month training camp in Ifrane and another in Turkey where they were able to play four friendly matches.
The 27th edition of the World Handball Championship is taking place with some changes in the regulations. The top three in each group are directly qualified for the final phases and the 8 fourth-placed teams will play what is called the President’s Cup of the World Championship and will be divided into two groups, specifies the same source.
