Morocco Lifts Travel Restrictions for Citizens Flying Abroad

The Ministry of the Interior gives Moroccans wishing to travel abroad the green light. The restrictions imposed on passenger flights from Morocco have just been lifted.

"The Moroccan authorities do not impose any restrictions on Moroccans wishing to travel abroad on special flights," a authorized source at the Ministry of the Interior told Medias24. The suspension of flights only concerns arrivals in the kingdom and not departures, the same source specifies. Consequently, Moroccans wishing to travel abroad can take the special flights authorized by the Moroccan authorities. The borders are only closed to passengers on flights bound for Morocco.

On Thursday, Morocco extended the suspension of air and sea links until December 31. On November 29, the Moroccan authorities had decided to close the Moroccan airspace until December 13 due to the rapid spread of the new variant of the Covid-19 virus - Omicron (B.1.1.529), particularly in Europe and Africa. A decision that is also motivated by the desire to preserve the achievements made by Morocco in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and to protect the health of citizens.
