Morocco Leaps 10 Spots in Global Innovation Index, Ranks 67th Worldwide

Morocco jumps ten places in the latest innovation ranking and moves from 77th to 67th out of 132 economies evaluated, according to the latest edition of the GII (Global Innovation Index).
Speaking on the occasion of the launch of the 2022 Global Innovation Index (GII) on September 29, 2022 in Geneva, the Minister of Industry and Trade welcomed this 10-place jump made by Morocco, the result of efforts made by the government to boost national development, reports the daily Les Inspirations Eco.
Morocco has also improved its ranking in the intangible assets component, positioning itself in 23rd place. It is ranked 9th according to the indicator relating to design deposits by origin and GDP, 33rd in the indicator relating to trademark deposits by origin and GDP, and 51st for international patent applications.
Morocco intends to continue its efforts to further improve its performance. "Today, our vision for 2035, through the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property, is that industrial and commercial property be at the service of a productive, innovative and inclusive national economy," said the Minister of Commerce.
Published since 2007 by the World Intellectual Property Organization, Cornell University and INSEAD, the Global Innovation Index (GII) allows countries to be compared and their innovation performance to be measured.
