Morocco Launches Tourism Recovery Plan, Hosts UK and Spanish Travel Professionals

The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) organized the trip to Morocco for tourism professionals from the United Kingdom and Spain, in order to immerse themselves in the opportunities offered by the sector. These are strategies that are part of the national tourism recovery plan.

Moroccan tourism is one of the sectors that has been severely shaken by the coronavirus pandemic. It is therefore necessary to restore confidence to tourists who are struggling to decide on the Moroccan destination, especially since the country is on the list of the 30 countries most affected by Covid-19. These familiarization trips aim to show these tourism professionals that despite the alarming figures, Morocco has taken the appropriate measures to ensure the health protection and safety of tourists, reports the MAP.

The ONMT is more than ever committed to reviving the sector to make life easier for the many people who have been struggling for a few months. In a press release published on Monday, the ONMT stresses that these trips also aim to show the changes made in order to propel the development of a sector that is trying to get its head out of the water. The ONMT’s guests visited Tangier, Tetouan and the Tamuda Bay coastal strip. They even made a stop in Rabat on board the Al Boraq TGV and were able to discover this new, modern and practical infrastructure, specially dedicated to Moroccan tourism.

As for the British professionals, they visited the cities of Essaouira, Marrakech, the village of Sidi Kaouki and the Agafay desert. This initiative is the first in a series of several others planned to promote the Moroccan destination, the same source specifies.
