Morocco Launches National Fund to Boost Youth Football Development

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the Moroccan group OCP and other private partners signed on Tuesday a convention for the creation of a National Fund dedicated to the professionalization of football training centers and the promotion of young talents.

Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the FRMF, emphasized on this occasion the importance of the creation of this fund. "This initiative is in line with the royal speech delivered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI during the Throne Feast last year, ’Whenever Moroccan youth has had the means to fully demonstrate its seriousness and patriotism, it has fascinated the world with unprecedented performances’," he recalled.

The president of the FRMF then expressed his "gratitude to Mostafa Terrab and all the other participants for their commitment to this project," without forgetting to address a "special thanks to all the teams who have worked tirelessly to make this initiative a reality." The official added that "the technical aspect of this project will be supervised by the National Technical Directorate, under the direction of Fathi Jamal," specifying that the project will be launched "with 11 clubs and 9 categories per club, for a total of 99 youth categories, men and women combined."

He continued: "This allows a large number of young people across the country to benefit from this initiative. In the future, this project will continue to develop and open up new prospects for all Moroccan clubs. We have also paved the way for the private sector to invest in this youth training project, with the imperative condition of respecting the specifications that frame this initiative."

Lekjaa also stated that this project opens a "new stage" for Moroccan football. "With this professional project, we are convinced that our country will see the emergence of talents capable of establishing themselves on the world stage. To achieve international feats, this project is now of paramount importance," he said. The Fund aims to promote excellence in football training centers and create the optimal conditions for the development of young talents.
