Morocco Launches Digital Taxi Booking System at Marrakech Airport to Combat Scams

Good news for passengers at Marrakech Menara airport. From now on, a counter is installed at the exit of the "Arrival terminal". Passengers can pre-book and prepay online on a dedicated website "order.kech.cab" or on one of the terminals that will be installed. In a press release, ONDA explains: on their arrival and after collecting their luggage, passengers wishing to be transported by taxi are guided by clear and adapted signage to the counter to order a taxi and prepay the fare by card or in cash. The fares, set by the competent authorities, are known in advance and fixed according to the destination.

The passenger receives a receipt after payment. Subsequently, he must scan it on one of the dedicated terminals, which allows him to obtain a ticket mentioning the taxi number and his rank in the queue. The same source specifies that the taxis in the city are previously registered and listed on an application made available to passengers. They receive a tag to stick on their vehicle and an identification badge enabling them to provide this service.

Following the launch by ONDA of a call for expressions of interest, the Moroccan startup "Casky" was selected to organize, modernize and automate the taxi transport service from Marrakech Menera airport. Operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the system allows the management of pre-orders and the issuance of taxi reservation tickets, the management of taxi and customer queues. It also allows the management of fare payments, the handling of complaints and the real-time reporting of data, for monitoring and control by a commission set up by the prefecture for this purpose.
