Marrakech Airport Introduces Fixed-Rate Taxi Counter to Combat Overcharging

Foreign tourists arriving in Marrakech will now be able to inquire and pay the taxi fares at a single counter that is made available to them at the city’s airport.
This measure taken by the local authorities of the ochre city follows the scandal caused by a small taxi driver, who charged five times the legal rate to a foreign tourist. The aim is to stop the manipulation of prices and restore the image of tourism in the city, reports Al Omk Al Maghribi.
The implementation of the counter would also put an end to a set of practices contrary to the law by certain professionals in the sector.
It should be noted that during recent checks carried out by the services of the Directorate of Economic and Social Affairs of the Prefecture of Marrakech, taxi drivers had their trust permits withdrawn due to price manipulations.
