Marrakech Airport Upgrades Security to Reduce Wait Times

After Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, the National Airports Office (ONDA) is facilitating access to Marrakech-Ménara Airport.
More inspection devices (scanners and portals) at the entrances of Marrakech-Ménara Airport. This measure came into effect on Friday, March 7, 2025. In a press release, ONDA states that it has strengthened the reception capacity of the airport with dedicated facilities for better management of spaces and flows, in particular by increasing the waiting capacity on arrival and by rearranging specific control areas for international and domestic flights. This action aims to meet the growing demand at this airport, the main point of entry for millions of travelers.
In addition to these actions, Morocco has also deployed additional human resources and equipment to ensure faster and more efficient service. This reorganization, which is in line with ONDA’s "Airport Strategy 2030", aims to reduce waiting times, which have, according to the office, dropped to less than an hour on average. ONDA also plans additional projects to bring this time down to 30 minutes and further improve the fluidity of formalities and passenger satisfaction. These include the redesign of the departure area, the installation of new management equipment, the implementation of electronic gates (e-Gates), as well as the addition of new boarding gates, a new boarding lounge, etc.
