Casablanca's Mohammed V Airport Expansion: New Terminal Construction to Begin 2025

The National Airports Office (ONDA) is actively working on the construction of the new terminal area at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca. After the earthworks contract, it has launched a call for expressions of interest (EOI).

Things are accelerating at ONDA. June has been chosen for the start of earthworks. As for the construction of the new terminal at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, it will begin at the end of 2025, according to the document accompanying the launch of the market prospecting process for the project. Why an EOI? The Office led by Adel El Fakir has opted for an EOI to identify competent companies and prepare the next stage of the call for competition for the realization of the project in "design-build" mode, specifies ONDA in its new consultation.

This terminal is designed in an H-shape. The infrastructure is intended to be modern, efficient, and connected to the highest international standards, particularly in terms of HUB operation and smooth connections. It will be distinguished by its interconnection with the Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed line (LGV), allowing travelers to quickly access the main cities of the Kingdom. This integrated transport mode is reminiscent of major international airports such as Paris-Charles de Gaulle or London-Heathrow, where intermodality is at the heart of the passenger experience.

The terminal will span three levels. The infrastructure will include a vast Duty Free area, VIP lounges, an integrated hotel with a view of the runways, as well as modern commercial and dining spaces. A new 42-meter control tower is also planned, along with a new 3,700-meter runway and its associated aeronautical infrastructures.

The new terminal is scheduled to be operational by 2029. It should be noted that this project is in line with Morocco’s "Airports 2030" strategy.
