Morocco Launches 2020 Project Funding for Overseas Moroccan Associations

In an effort to support associations working for the benefit of Moroccans Residing Abroad (MREs), a call for projects for the year 2020 was launched on September 11. This was announced on Sunday by the Delegate Ministry to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
The purpose of this initiative is to support civil society abroad, strengthen the presence of MREs, especially in the current context marked by the coronavirus pandemic and its social and economic repercussions. Moroccan associations abroad working for young Moroccans or of Moroccan origin can submit their application by November 11 next, the ministry’s press release said.
The eligible projects or actions for co-financing by the Ministry must focus on the support of prisoners and women, the promotion of the situation of Moroccan women residing abroad, the promotion of Moroccan culture addressed to young people in host countries and living together, the mobilization of Moroccan skills and the academic support of children of Moroccans residing abroad who are experiencing academic difficulties.
According to the same source, the partnership between the Ministry and the associations advocating for MREs is supported by a specification that aims to clarify the basis of this collaboration. These include legislative references, objectives, target populations, partnership co-financing, implementation modalities, party commitments and the monitoring and evaluation process.
