Morocco Launches App to Streamline Consular Services for Expats

Before the end of this year 2020, an application will allow certain consular centers to respond in a timely manner to the various requests submitted to them. The announcement was made on Tuesday in Rabat by [Nezha El Ouafi], the delegate minister in charge of Moroccans living abroad.
The purpose of this digitization of consular services is to facilitate users’ access to the various services through an electronic portal. The minister was responding to an oral question on "facilitating and simplifying the procedures for services provided to Moroccans in the world", presented by the Socialist group in the House of Councillors.
This novelty does not stop the process of accelerating the main services, mainly concerning the withdrawal of certain documents in urgent cases. Nezha El Ouafi notified that since the beginning of the pandemic, the consulates have ensured the provision of various services to users. It is in this context that her ministry has launched a plan dedicated to the reform of the consular system, in order to bring the consular services closer to Moroccans residing abroad, reports the MAP.
During the same session, the minister addressed another question concerning "Moroccans residing abroad, holders of investment projects", which was presented by the Authenticity and Modernity group. She expressed the need to strengthen the link of all Moroccan skills, wherever they are, with their country, by facilitating investment opportunities for them. The institutional project is underway, she stressed before adding that there is a national program aimed at mobilizing Moroccan skills residing abroad, aiming to move from 4,500 skills to 10,000 by 2030.
