Moroccan NGOs Receive $40 Million in Foreign Funding, Government Reports

Between April 2019 and April 2020, the General Secretariat of the Government received more than 900 declarations from 218 associations regarding the subsidies they received from foreign countries or associations or international organizations.
Moroccan associations active on the national territory have thus received a total of 392 million dirhams as funding from foreign donors, reports the daily Al Massae. These are the official figures, to which undeclared amounts by these associations escape, relativizes the same source, since the law obliges them to make a declaration of all the amounts of funding received from abroad, to the General Secretariat of the Government (SGG).
Still speaking about the financing of associations, the SGG has authorized 23 NGOs to appeal to public generosity, the same newspaper points out, adding that the associations that have been able to appeal for public subsidy are all recognized as being of public utility. This is a requirement to benefit from this advantage.
Committed to improving the legal environment and permanently updating the laws governing them, the SGG has also issued 1,780 authorizations to practice for health professions and certain regulated technical professions during the same period, the newspaper completes.
