Morocco Issues Red Alert as Temperatures Soar to 47°C (116°F) in Heatwave

The heatwave persists in Morocco, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) has just issued a red level alert.
Thus, very hot weather (45 to 47 degrees) is expected in the provinces of Larache, Ouezzane, Kénitra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khémisset, Salé, Skhirate-Témara, Benslimane, Berrechid, Settat, Sidi Bennour, Fquih ben Salah, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Rehamna, Marrakech, Taroudant, Guelmim, Tan-Tan and Tata.
The cities and provinces of Tanger-Assilah, Taounate, Moulay Yacoub, Fès, Meknès, Khouribga, Nouaceur, Médiouna, Safi, Youssoufia, Chichaoua, Beni Mellal, Essaouira, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Chtouka-Aït-Baha, Tiznit, Sidi Ifni, Assa-Zag and Aousserd, will experience temperatures ranging from 42 to 45°C, adds the same source.
The mercury should also display temperatures between 39 and 42°C in Taza, Guercif, Sefrou, El Hajeb, Khénifra, Figuig, Errachidia, Zagora, Es-Semara and Oued-Ed-Dahab.
The hot weather will also persist in Rabat, Casablanca, Mohammedia, El Jadida, Jerrada, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Boulemane and Ouarzazate with temperatures ranging between 36 and 39°C, the statement concludes.
