Morocco Braces for Intense Heat Wave: Temperatures to Soar Up to 48°C (118°F)

The Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) announces a new heat wave that will affect several provinces of the Kingdom from Wednesday, July 12 to Friday, July 14. The expected maximum temperatures range from 37 to 48 degrees.
The most affected provinces will be Fquih Ben Saleh, Beni Mellal, Chichaoua, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Rehamna, Marrakech, Tata, Taroudant, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tananane, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara and the interior of Boujdour, Aousserd and Oued Ed-Dahab, where the thermometer can climb up to 48 degrees, according to a "Red" alert issued by the DGM.
An "Orange" vigilance bulletin has also been triggered for other provinces. In these regions, particularly Jerada, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Guercif, Moulay Yacoub, Sefrou, Fès, Boulemane, El Hajeb, Meknès, Taza, Taounate, Ouezzane, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khenifra, Azilal, Khouribga, Settat, Essaouira, Youssoufia, Al Haouz, Errachidia, Zagora, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Guelmim, Tan-Tan and Sidi Ifni, temperatures will range between 42 and 45 degrees during the same period.
For the provinces of Tetouan, Khemisset and the interior of the provinces of Al Hoceima, Nador, Chefchaouen, Berkane and Driouch, the expected temperatures will be between 37 and 42 degrees from Wednesday to Thursday. The heat wave will continue on Friday in several provinces, including Fquih Ben Saleh, Beni Mellal, Chichaoua, Youssoufia, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Rehamna, Marrakech, Khouribga, Settat, Essaouira, Tata, Taroudant, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Guelmim, Tan-Tan, Sidi Ifni, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Zagora and the interior of Boujdour, Aousserd and Oued Ed-Dahab. These regions will have to prepare for temperatures ranging between 43 and 46 degrees.
