Morocco-Israel Ties Unlock Economic Opportunities, Expert Says

The restoration of relations between Morocco and Israel announces very promising economic opportunities and highly promising prospects for cooperation at several levels, says Anouar Majid. The Moroccan-American academic and Vice President for Global Affairs at the University of New England (UNE) has commented on the fallout from the rapprochement between the two countries.
These fallouts also concern the United States, privileged witnesses of the "Joint Declaration" which emphasized the opening of a new era in relations between Morocco and Israel, noted Anouar Majid, in a statement to the MAP. "The United States will benefit from Morocco’s pioneering role in Africa to develop its commercial and humanitarian initiatives on the continent. Israel will have access to a dynamic emerging market for its technologies and services, and the Moroccan economy, including the agricultural, tourism and high-tech sectors, will benefit from new partnerships with Israel."
This rapprochement will allow the Moroccan Jewish diaspora in Israel to easily travel to Morocco, reconnect with their roots, and offer new investment opportunities. "It is important to remember, as we have seen during the Royal Audience granted to the American and Israeli delegation, that many Israeli Jews are deeply attached to Morocco and its Sovereign. As a result, the normalization of relations is, in fact, a family reunion," he said.
