Biden Administration Reaffirms Support for Israel-Arab Peace Deals and Morocco’s Sahara Claim

The normalization of diplomatic relations between Israel and four Arab countries, including Morocco, was the subject of discussions between the US National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan and his Israeli counterpart, Meir Ben-Shabbat. It emerges that the United States supports these agreements, and by extension the American recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara.
In a statement, the White House said that Mr. Sullivan spoke on Saturday, January 23, with Mr. Ben-Shabbat. During this conversation, the American official reiterated the unwavering support of the new US President, Joe Biden, for Israel’s peace approach. He also expressed his commitment to Israel’s security, appreciated Mr. Ben Shabbat’s contributions to the smooth running of the US-Israel partnership.
"They discussed opportunities to strengthen the partnership in the coming months, building on the success of Israel’s normalization agreements with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco," the same source said. This statement represents, at least, a guarantee of assurance for Morocco, worried about a possible questioning of the American recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara under the Biden administration.
