Morocco Invests 4 Billion Dirhams to Expand Key Tourist Airports

As part of its investment plan called Envol 2025, aimed at supporting the growth of the tourism sector, the National Airports Office (ONDA) will mobilize an amount of 4 billion dirhams in 2023 to support the growth of the activity of the airports of Marrakech, Agadir and Tangier.
These airport platforms were already experiencing capacity saturation well before the health crisis, reports Aujourd’hui le Maroc, citing the Director of ONDA, Habiba Laklalech. Thus, with the resumption of activities, the office has decided to intensify renovation and development projects.
"We have already initiated a number of actions at the Marrakech, Agadir and Tangier airports, pending much larger infrastructure projects that will start next year," said the official.
In this sense, the amount of investments would be around 4 billion dirhams for these three airports in 2023, specifies the same source, stressing that the office is examining more innovative financing methods to start the development projects.
In its action plan, ONDA is relying on sustainability at all stages of the airport’s life. "From now on, in all the infrastructure projects we will undertake, we will integrate the environmental dimension from the moment we start the design until the moment we build the airport," continued Habiba Laklalech.
