Laâyoune Airport Upgrade Set to Begin as ONDA Selects Contractor

The Laâyoune airport renovation project is about to enter its implementation phase. The National Airports Office (ONDA) has just chosen the company that will be responsible for carrying out the work.
ONDA had launched a tender for the realization of the work to upgrade the aeronautical infrastructure of Laâyoune airport. At the end of the process, the choice was made for the company Grands Travaux Routiers (GTR).
These works will increase the airport’s reception capacity and the generalization of compliance with international standards in terms of air traffic flow, air safety, airport security and quality of services.
Specifically, it will be a matter of strengthening the movement areas, the aeronautical pavements, the sides of the runway, as well as extending the aircraft parking lots and widening the access roads to the airport and renovating the LED technology lighting system. Note that the investment cost of the renovation of Laâyoune airport amounts to 118.9 million dirhams and the work is scheduled for a duration of eight months.
