Laâyoune Airport Expansion: Morocco Invests in Infrastructure to Meet Growing Air Traffic

The Laâyoune airport will undergo renovation work in the coming weeks, in order to meet the sustained growth in passenger traffic.
Specifically, it will involve strengthening the movement areas, the aeronautical pavements, the sides of the runway, as well as the extension of aircraft parking lots and widening the access roads to the airport and renovating the LED technology lighting system, said a press release from the National Airports Office (ONDA).
These works will be added to the many projects started since 2019, including the construction of an official reception building and the renewal this year of air navigation and communication aid equipment and instruments.
According to the office, these renovation projects aim to increase the reception capacities of regional airports and the generalization of compliance with international standards in terms of air traffic flow, air safety, airport security and quality of services.
