Morocco’s Industry Ministry Sees 44% Drop in 2021 Investment Budget

The investment budget of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy for the year 2021 amounts to nearly 1.21 billion DH, according to Moulay Hafid Elalamy.
With nearly 2.2 billion DH in 2019, this budget has declined by 44.80%, the minister said when presenting the budget of his department for the year 2021 to the Productive Sectors Commission in the House of Advisors.
In detail, this budget is divided between the Industrial and Investment Development Fund, for an investment of 1 billion DH (86%), the commercial strategy of Morocco for 10 million DH (1%), the relaunch of various sectoral investments with 100 million DH (9%), energy efficiency with 12 million DH (1%) and the Morocco Digital strategy which benefits from 35 million DH (3%), in addition to support and leadership with 58.76 million DH.
As for the ministry’s operating budget, it stands at nearly 577.23 million DH for the year 2021, down 1.95% compared to 2020, which stood at 588.68 million DH. This operating budget is divided between personnel expenses of 240.91 million DH (down 7.44% compared to 2020), and equipment and miscellaneous expenses amounting to 336.32 MDH (up 2.41% compared to the previous year).
As for equipment and miscellaneous expenses, an amount of 44 million DH is planned for the Digital Development Agency, 40.9 million DH for the Casablanca Central School, 44.7 million DH for the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE), 9 million DH for the Moroccan Institute of Standardization (IMANOR), 37.9 million DH for the Higher Institute of Commerce and Business Administration (ISCAE).
In addition, 24.4 million DH will be reserved for the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Services, and 36 million DH for the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE).
