Morocco Incinerates Over 9 Tons of Drugs in Major Anti-Trafficking Operation

A large-scale operation to destroy by incineration a large quantity of drugs, alcohol and contraband goods was organized in Tan-tan, in southern Morocco. This significant seizure is the result of several operations carried out in the Guelmim-Oud Noun region, in the period from July 9 to October 17.
According to the MAP, the destruction report indicates, as part of this operation, the incineration of more than 9.17 tons of chira, 8.86 kg of tobacco and 49.75 kg of kif.
To carry out this operation, the choice was made on the municipal landfill of the commune of El Ouatia (province of Tan-Tan), the same source also points out the destruction of 1 gram of cocaine, 374 liters of alcohol and 20 grams of flavored tobacco (maassel).
Several competent services were mobilized to attend the incineration of these prohibited products, in particular the Public Prosecutor’s Office, as well as a Commission composed of representatives of the local authorities and the various security and health services in the region.
This operation, like several others of the same kind, aims to continue the fight against drugs, smuggling and illicit products. All of these scourges that are harmful to health and the environment.
