Moroccan Authorities Incinerate 3.6 Tons of Seized Drugs in Ouarzazate

A very large quantity of cannabis resin and other types of drugs were destroyed by incineration on Wednesday by the competent services in Ouarzazate. This involves precisely 3.6 tons of drugs and contraband products, seized during several operations carried out by the security services in the Drâa-Tafilalet region.
The destruction operation took place in the presence of representatives from all the sectors concerned as well as those from the local authorities, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office at the Court of First Instance in Ouarzazate.
In a statement to the MAP on this occasion, Abdelbasset El Imami, from the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration in Ouarzazate, indicated that the drugs and products destroyed were seized by the security services in Errachidia, Merzouga and other points in the region. He also noted that these seizures were made as part of the efforts made by the competent services to combat drug trafficking and other narcotics.
