Moroccan Authorities Incinerate $18 Million Worth of Seized Drugs in Dakhla

The Dakhla-Al Argoub landfill was used as the site for the destruction of more than 15.80 tons of cannabis resin and illicit products. These products, valued at 186 million dirhams (MDH), were incinerated on Tuesday by the competent services.
These tons of cannabis resin and illicit products come from several seizure operations carried out during the period from January 15 to March 31, 2020, by the various security services in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region.
It mainly concerns 15 tons and 804 kg of chira (cannabis resin), 14 tons and 664 kg of flavored tobacco (maassel), 511,420 packs of cigarettes and 72 psychotropic tablets, reports the MAP, which points out that the destruction also concerns "20 grams of cannabis (Kif), 33 grams of Kif powder and 233 grams of snuff tobacco (Nefha)".
According to Taoufik Mohamed Abdouh, the Customs Ordinator in Dakhla, "this destruction operation was carried out under the supervision of the representative of the public prosecutor’s office near the court of first instance of Oued Eddahab". He also stated that these various illicit products destroyed were seized "as part of the efforts made by the competent services to fight against international drug trafficking and smuggling".
The deputy public prosecutor of the court of first instance of Oued Eddahab also went in the same direction. He also acknowledged that "drug trafficking has harmful consequences on the national economy and on the health of citizens" and that it is necessary to fight it by all means.
