Moroccan Authorities Incinerate 7 Tons of Cannabis and Other Illicit Substances in Ouarzazate

A large quantity of drugs and products unfit for consumption seized during several security operations in the Drâa-Tafilalet region was incinerated in Ouarzazate.
The destruction operation took place in the presence of the local authorities concerned and the various security services, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office near the Court of First Instance of Ouarzazate.
It involved 5.72 tons of cannabis resin, 1.23 tons of kif, 202 kg of powdered tobacco, 4.5 kg of hookah tobacco, 91.5 liters of brandy, 47 bottles of alcoholic beverages, 57 kg of fermented dates and 120 psychotropic tablets. The total value of the products destroyed during this operation is estimated at nearly 58 million Dirhams, reports the MAP.
According to the same source, the quantity of cannabis resin incinerated was seized during various operations carried out in Errachidia, Ouarzazate, Zagoura and Merzouga.
