Morocco: a new highway opens to relieve congestion in Casablanca

This new link provides a direct connection between the Casablanca ring road (A1) and the strategic hub of Berrechid, where the routes to Marrakech and Beni Mellal intersect. With an initial estimated flow of 20,000 vehicles per day, the A31 is intended to optimize the journeys of users crossing the Kingdom and to relieve the saturated sections of the existing network.

The impact of this opening will be significant for access to Mohammed V International Airport. The new service will help alleviate traffic on the current axis connecting Casablanca to the airport area, which currently records more than 75,000 daily passages.

The structure includes two strategic interchanges located on the Médiouna road and national road No. 9, facilitating the connection with the surrounding municipalities and the town of Deroua. The infrastructure also incorporates four viaducts crossing several wadis as well as twenty-four restoration structures to maintain local traffic. ADM specifies that the design and implementation of this project were entirely carried out by Moroccan skills.
