Morocco Hails Germany's Diplomatic Outreach in New Year Message

Following the message from the German President addressed to King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the New Year, the government says it "welcomes with great satisfaction" the new approach to rapprochement with Morocco.

According to government spokesman Mustapha Baitas, "the government welcomed with great satisfaction the positive and important statements made by the German government, and the content of the message addressed by the German President to His Majesty King Mohammed VI."

For its part, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had expressed its satisfaction with the recent positive announcements and constructive positions made by the new German government, considering that these announcements allow for the revitalization of bilateral cooperation and the return to normal work of the diplomatic representations of the two countries in Rabat and Berlin.

To recall, German President Frank-Walter Stein sent a note of satisfaction to Morocco for the large-scale reforms initiated by King Mohammed VI and stressed the autonomy initiative as the basis for a political solution to the Sahara conflict.

The German President also emphasized "Morocco’s commitment to the fight against international terrorism, which is essential for my country (Germany) and its security" and added: "We also consider the Moroccan model of training imams as a promising element that can curb extremism."
