Morocco Restores Diplomatic Ties with Germany as Ambassador Returns to Berlin

Zohour Alaoui, Morocco’s ambassador to Germany, recalled in May last year for consultations in Rabat, due to Berlin’s "negative" attitude on the Sahara issue and "an attempt to sideline" the kingdom "from regional meetings on Libya" will soon return to her post in the German capital.
Ambassador of Germany, Zohour Alaoui, returns to her post in Berlin this week. The diplomatic crisis between the two countries is now a thing of the past. Morocco has recently given its approval to Germany for the appointment of a new ambassador in Rabat, which testifies to the restoration of their diplomatic relations.
At the dawn of the new year 2022, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeir, presented his New Year’s wishes to King Mohammed VI, and at the same time invited him to make a state visit to his country. A move welcomed by the Moroccan government. "The government welcomed with great satisfaction the positive and important statements made by the German government, and the content of the message addressed by the German president" to the sovereign, declared its spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas.
Morocco had severed its relations with Germany in March 2021 "due to deep misunderstandings on the fundamental issues of the kingdom".
