Morocco Faces Dual Challenge: Welcoming Summer Travelers While Managing COVID-19 Risks

Morocco must succeed in the "Marhaba-2021" operation while preserving the achievements made in the management of the Covid-19 pandemic, said Tuesday in Rabat, Head of Government Saad Dine El Otmani, specifying that this is the major challenge to be met this year.

Speaking on the occasion of the monthly general policy session at the House of Advisors, the Head of Government specified that this year, the imperative is not only to succeed in the operation but also to preserve the achievements made in the management of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We are facing a real national epic and everyone must contribute to its success, to make the summer of 2021 the consecration of Morocco, patriotism, solidarity and hope," he said. El Otmani stressed that the objective is to allow tens of thousands of Moroccans from the 3rd and 4th generations to visit their country and reunite with their loved ones and their homeland under the best conditions, which he recalled is "a very valuable human and social national asset and a challenge that requires the mobilization of all to meet it."

He also noted that the decision to authorize travel to and from Morocco, starting June 15, was based on the positive indicators of the epidemiological situation in Morocco and the decrease in the number of infections and deaths due to the new coronavirus, particularly with the evolution of the national vaccination campaign. Achievements to be preserved at all costs, concludes El Otmani.
