Morocco Extends Fuel Subsidy for Truckers Amid Rising Prices

The Council of Government at its Thursday session decided to renew the subsidy granted to Moroccan road transporters to help them cope with the high cost of fuel.
According to Mustapha Baitas, government spokesman, "a 9th tranche of aid" will be granted to professionals in the road transport sector to deal with "price fluctuations and control inflation affecting basic products circulating on the national territory".
Speaking to journalists, he stated that the total amount of this new tranche added to the previous eight is estimated at 4.2 billion dirhams. For this "9th tranche", the process will be the same, i.e. the amount to be allocated will be calculated according to the prevailing fuel prices.
