Morocco to Launch Monthly Cash Aid for Low-Income Families in 2023

The government plans to grant a monthly financial aid to all underprivileged families. This flagship measure of the country’s social protection generalization process will be effective as early as this year, according to the government spokesman.
Reviewing the actions taken as part of this major project, Mustapha Baitas indicated, during the press briefing held after the government council meeting, that the preliminary registrations at the level of the National Population Register and the Unified Social Register are progressing normally, assuring that as early as the third quarter of this year, the government will have an idea of the number of people concerned.
Tools such as the National Population Register (RNP) and the Unified Social Register (RSU) are necessary to achieve this objective within the set deadlines, he specified, recalling that last year the budget of the compensation fund exploded, due to the subsidies of basic necessities.
Regarding the rise in prices of certain products such as red meat and milk, the minister stressed that several measures have been taken to ensure the regular supply of the domestic market. In this sense, a decree has been issued to lift the restrictions relating to the weight, for import, of cattle intended for slaughter, he specified. This will allow Moroccan importers to access new international markets and supply the domestic market, he noted.
