Morocco Launches Unified Social Registry to Target Aid for Poorest Citizens

Pending the nationwide rollout in 2023 of social benefits at the national level, the government proceeded on October 27 to the launch of the Unified Social Registry (RSU) in five provinces and prefectures of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region.
Relying on the success of the pilot phase initiated in Rabat and Kénitra, the government plans to extend this experience nationwide, reports Al Akhbar, which reports that the RSU will be definitively effective in the other provinces and prefectures of the region, such as Salé, Skhirat-Témara, Khemissat, Sidi Kacem and Sidi Slimane.
As part of the vast project, the government will soon proceed with the implementation of the RSU, the National Population Register (RNP), as well as the operationalization of the National Registry Agency (ANR), the daily recalls, stressing that this system is of paramount importance, due to its role in the effective targeting of people most in need of social assistance programs.
In this context, a Steering Committee chaired by the Head of Government has been established. This committee will meet once a month to assess the progress of the project, rule on arbitration points and make strategic decisions. Added to this are the mobilization of 4,900 agents in the citizen service centers and in the provinces and the development of 1,500 citizen service centers.
