Moroccan Fuel Prices Drop Significantly: Diesel Down 1.60 Dirhams, Gasoline Falls

Fuel prices in Morocco have dropped again on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at all service stations.
After fifteen days of increases, diesel saw its price drop at service stations on Thursday to 14.50 dirhams/liter, a decrease of 1.60 dirhams. On the side of unleaded super, a decrease of 0.20 dirhams per liter was recorded. Now, the cost per liter is 14.50 dirhams.
Speaking about fuel subsidies during a press briefing after the government council in November, government spokesman Mustapha Baitas had stated that it "would take 100 billion DH to carry out such an operation," the equivalent of the government budget allocated to the health and education sectors for next year. He had also added that the government was not ready to engage in this path. However, the government had decided to increase by 40% the amount of the 7th tranche of exceptional aid to road transport professionals.
