Morocco Extends COVID-19 State of Emergency to February 28

Meeting this Thursday, January 27 in Rabat, the government decided to extend the state of health emergency throughout the national territory until February 28, after examining a draft decree presented by the Minister of the Interior.

Moroccans will have to keep their patience when it comes to lifting the state of health emergency in force to fight the spread of the coronavirus. By making this decision, the government affirms "to guarantee the effectiveness and efficiency of the measures taken in the framework of the fight against the pandemic".

Under this draft decree, the Ministry of the Interior is required to take all necessary measures nationwide, while local authorities are responsible for taking all necessary executive measures to comply with the current health protocol.
