Morocco Extends COVID-19 State of Emergency Until April 30

Meeting in session on Thursday, March 24 in Rabat, the Council of Government decided to extend the state of health emergency throughout Moroccan territory until April 30, 2022. This measure, according to the government spokesperson, is part of the efforts deployed in the fight against the spread of Covid-19.
It was under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch that the Council of Government adopted, on Thursday, March 24, a draft decree extending the state of health emergency throughout the national territory.
The executive justifies its decision by the concern to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the measures taken in the framework of the fight against the spread of the pandemic. This draft decree therefore extends the state of health emergency throughout the national territory until Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 6 p.m.
By virtue of this draft decree, the Minister of the Interior is responsible for taking all appropriate measures at the national level, while the walis of the regions and the governors of the prefectures and provinces will take at their level all the necessary executive measures to maintain public health order.
