Morocco Extends COVID-19 State of Emergency Despite Low Case Numbers

As expected, the Moroccan government has just announced the extension of the state of health emergency throughout the national territory.
Even though the figures for Covid-19 infections have improved significantly in recent weeks, with only 15 people infected and 114 active cases this Thursday, September 29, Morocco has decided to extend the state of health emergency throughout the national territory until October 31, 2022.
This extension of the state of health emergency will notably ensure the effectiveness of the measures taken in the fight against the prolongation of the pandemic, it is specified.
To recall, this draft decree grants the government authority in charge of the Interior the ability to take, in light of the epidemiological situation, all appropriate measures at the national level.
