Morocco Lifts COVID-19 State of Emergency After Nearly 4 Years

The Moroccan government has decided to end the state of health emergency in effect since the appearance of the first cases of coronavirus contamination.
According to the decision taken during the Council of Government this Thursday, February 28 marks the end of the state of health emergency throughout the national territory. However, the government reserves the right to reintroduce it if the evolution of the epidemiological situation requires it.
Even if the Minister of Health announced 11 new infections on Wednesday, the government considered that the cases of contamination over the past 30 days are not alarming enough to renew the state of emergency, which was one of the restrictive measures still in effect after deconfinement.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than a million Moroccans have been infected with Covid-19 with nearly 17,000 deaths.
